Who I Am and What I Write

My work explores fear, folly, and tragedy through genres such as fantasy, horror, thriller, and dramatic surrealism. I am especially interested in folk horror, as my undergraduate thesis focused on A Thousand and One Nights and it’s history of adaptations. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2025 in Writing & Literature, giving my writing a sense of poeticism and fable-like plot. Currently, I attend USC’s School of Cinematic Arts for an M.F.A. in Screenwriting. As a Lebanese American, I strive to create works that elevate identity and deconstruct histories of social representation. In the future, I hope to become a showrunner for a fantasy-horror television series focused on Middle Eastern folklore. My favorite pieces of media include The Haunting of Hill House, Pan’s Labyrinth, Nope, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Over the Garden Wall. I’ll leave you with my favorite quote:

“May I tell you a story so strange that if you were to carve it with a needle in the corner of your eye, it would be a warning to the wise?” - Shahrazad, A Thousand and One Nights
